Material-Details: Ceramic Datasheet

""Ceramic" refers to a "normal" ceramic mixture of aluminum as one knows of plates, cups and bowls.
The material is burned after printing and glazed. Through the 3D printing objects can be produced elaborate 3D that were not possible so far with ceramic.
Here no close tolerances can be respected through the burn and the glazing. This material is 100% food safe.
The material is extremely Heat resistant (to 600 ° C)

Advantages & disadvantages

Advantages
  • Very high surface quality
  • Freedom of form
  • Food safe
  • Very good permanent availability
  • Extreme heat-resistant
disadvantages
  • Fragile (such as porcelain)
  • Low resolution / high tolerances
  • Thickness minimum wall thickness
  • Not industrially applicable

Price calculation

Ceramic is calculated, in contrast to all other 3D printing processes in cm² (surface area) and not in cm³.
Our calculation tool helps you.

  • 0,36 € / cm² surface

Typical usage

Usually, ceramic is used to make designer Cup or items that come into contact with foodstuffs.
Through its high heat resistance, this material can be used also as an insulator.
Ceramic parts are always glazed.

Technology

Ceramic part is similar to that of a full color, on a Z-print system. The following glazing is a 100% density of the material ensured.
The burning is done manually in the oven in 2 rounds.

The procedure:

Your model is broken down into layers of 0.2 mm on the computer.
They are sent to the printer. The printer put a 0.2 mm thick layer of ceramic powder on the printing bed.
Now, a print head prints a layer of the part on the powder with binder.
Then, the next layer is applied.
This process is repeated until the component is created. Now, the excess powder is removed, that has served previously as supporting material. After cleaning, your part in a furnace is burned.
In this burning the binder disappears and the ceramic particles merge with each other. After firing, your part is covered with a glaze and again burned.

Additional information

  •  Models with a flat bottom are provided for burning to these. Here, the component is not glazed.
  • If your part has no flat bottom, it comes on a stand, at the points of contact, your component will not be glazed.
  • Moving parts are not possible (E.g., chains)
